Social Venture Fund Manager – Fund Strategy

  • Dalberg supported a Social Venture Fund Manager in refining their strategy and developing pitch materials for a new global impact investing fund to be presented to their board and other LPs, before going into the market for fundraising. 
  • The fund is currently investing in India, Brazil, and East Africa with a focus on unmet consumer needs in emerging markets.
     

UICC – Design and Feasibility Assessment of the Healthy Cities Fund

  • Dalberg designed the Healthy Cities Fund, which had the objective of financing city-level health infrastructure in low and middle-income countries. 
  • Dalberg made a market assessment to identify current sources and uses of health infrastructure financing, financing needs and gaps and barriers that inhibit investment. 
  • Afterwards, Dalberg developed different design options for the fund’s strategy and structure. 

KfW – Design and Structuring of the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria

  • Dalberg designed and helped launch the Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN) on behalf of KfW and the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. 
  • The fund concept emerged from a Nigerian SMEs agricultural finance market assessment done by Dalberg. 
  • Afterwards, Dalberg was engaged to design and structure a growth capital fund, supporting fund manager recruitment, and developing operational documents. 
  • Dalberg also helped facilitate fund incorporation and early fundraising processes. 

AfDB – Design and structuring of the Fund for Energy Inclusion

  • Dalberg designed and structured a $500 MM African Development Bank (AfDB) debt facility to support the scaling of renewable energy providers.
  • Dalberg advised on market positioning and capital structure of the facility, management structure, domiciliation, and supported fundraising and fund manager recruitment processes.
  • The facility was designed to provide debt to off-grid companies and to small-scale power producers.
  • Afterwards, AfDB’s board made a $100 MM commitment.

2018 Global Off-Grid Solar Market Trends Report released

A new report released today by the World Bank Group’s Lighting Global Program, Dalberg Advisors and GOGLA finds that the global off-grid solar industry has taken a leap in the past year to help developing countries reach their energy access goals. Dalberg estimates that, to date, the off-grid solar sector has provided improved electricity to as many as 360 million people.

We established a cassava financing facility in Ghana, Nigeria and Mozambique to provide access to finance to processors in the cassava value chain. We identified a pipeline of primary processors to be invested and potential partners, and designed a financing facility.
