Dalberg Media published the book, 17 Big Bets for a Better World, in which some of the world’s most renowned thought leaders detail how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations can be reached. With perspectives included from the former president Julia Gillard, the Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi, the artist Olafur Eliasson and the Michelin-chef Dan Barber, the book presents forward-thinking and credible solutions to the challenges faced by humanity today.
The book was published as part of the Big Bet Initiative (www.bigbetinitiative.com). Building on the book, a set of learning materials for high school students was published, titled Your Bet for a Better World, in which thought leaders present their ambitious, yet realistic big bets with potential to realize the SDGs. Your Bet for a Better World offers an introduction to the SDG agenda and enhances high school students’ understanding of how to use innovation tools and creative measures to come up with solutions to development challenges.
17 Big Bets for a Better World was issued by Gads Publishing and has been launched in the U.S, Europe and Africa with launch events in launch events in Copenhagen, Paris, Lagos, Johannesburg, Delhi, New York and San Francisco. It has been supported by prominent leaders such as UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and former President of the UN Assembly Mogens Lykketoft.
