Carlijn Nouwen

Carlijn is a Partner in Dalberg’s Johannesburg office. Her main areas of focus are financial services; financial inclusion, and healthcare. Carlijn is the global lead for Dalberg Advisors’ Inclusive Business Growth Expertise practice; working in particular on innovative finance and investment. She often works for private sector clients on market selection and market entry strategy to turn inclusive business into a lasting competitive advantage. Carlijn has extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and alignment, including executive coaching and developing and running middle management training and coaching programs to enhance change readiness and build required new skills.

Prior to joining Dalberg, Carlijn spent seven years at McKinsey & Company. She has also worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, focusing on Official Development Assistance as part of the Dutch diplomatic corps. She previously worked for a grassroots development NGO in Delhi.

Carlijn holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science (cum laude) from Eindhoven Technical University and a first-year diploma in International Relations and Political Sciences from the University of Amsterdam. She has also undertaken diplomatic training with the MFA.
