Construction is a male-dominated industry in Kenya. Women are largely relegated to poorly paid, informal tasks such as cleaning and carrying water. A Nairobi-based nonprofit, Buildher, is trying to alter this dynamic by offering women training and internships in skills such as carpentry, painting and tiling so that they are able to get steady, better paid work in the sector.
