Dalberg Advisors is proud to announce that Lillian Kidane, Partner and Regional Director for Africa, has been awarded the 2024 Johns Hopkins Alumni Association Global Achievement Award. The recognition celebrates Lillian’s exceptional contributions to global development and humanitarian service, particularly her leadership in advancing public health systems, industrialization, climate advocacy, and digital transformation across Africa and the Caribbean.
Lillian has been with Dalberg since 2018, driving initiatives that reflect our core values of equity, sustainability, and impact. Her passion for creating inclusive opportunities for individuals and communities is evident in her work, which ranges from policy advising to entrepreneurial endeavors. Lillian’s approach to development is deeply aligned with Dalberg’s mission to craft innovative, people-centered solutions to improve livelihoods globally.
“I am deeply humbled to receive this award, which allows me the opportunity to spotlight the incredible changemakers I have had the privilege of collaborating with and amplifying across Africa. Africa is not just a place of challenges but a leader in the global movement toward sustainable development, from advancing climate resilience to improving healthcare access,” she says.
Henrik Skovby, Chairman and Founder of the Dalberg Group, praised Lillian’s leadership, stating:
“Dalberg is fortunate to attract leaders like Lillian, who combine their passion and expertise to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Lillian’s work in the health sector in Africa is the kind of impact we strive to create—driving solutions that address immediate needs and build long-term resilience. This award shows Johns Hopkins’s recognition of leadership rooted in purpose, and I’m proud to see her receive it.”
One of Lillian’s recent notable achievements is her leadership in Dalberg’s partnership with the Gavi Vaccine Alliance and other key partners to support the rollout of the malaria vaccine in Niger. Niger has become the 13th African country to introduce the RTS malaria vaccine for children aged 6 to 16 months—a monumental step in the fight to eliminate malaria. The vaccine is expected to significantly reduce hospitalizations and deaths, particularly among vulnerable children.
Lillian’s recognition with this Global Achievement Award reflects both her leadership and Dalberg’s dedication to delivering bold, systemic solutions that drive meaningful change across Africa and beyond.
