The frequency of extreme climate events has been increasing each year. Crop yields in India are projected to drop by 9% by 2040 compared to 2010 levels. If climate risks continue to go unaddressed, rural incomes could fall by as much as 20-25% in the medium term.
How can we prepare for these events? A critical challenge is the lack of data that offers a picture of the next ten to 15 years. In response, NABARD, with technical support from the Gates Foundation and Dalberg Advisors, has a launched a challenge to develop a national climate stack.
