The Justice, Equity, and Economic Mobility practice leads Dalberg’s work focused on building a more just and equitable society in the United States. Across topics, we work with our clients on areas such as:
-
The Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity
We designed and are now implementing the $17M High Road Training Partnership Fund to expand quality career pathways, and the $800K Worker Equity Fund to meet urgent needs of workers facing barriers. We also designed a small business support fund and are helping build a more inclusive economic development ecosystem through technical assistance, evaluation, and community learning.
-
REDF
We have partnered with REDF, a leading organization building economic power for workers overcoming barriers to employment, on a series of engagements to audit their strategy against their racial equity goals, co-develop a bold new theory of change, and shape a learning agenda to strengthen their impact for workers and communities.
-
Open Society Foundations
We partnered with Open Society Foundations to synthesize lessons from three years of global grantmaking to advance worker justice. Drawing on input from staff, partners, and peers, we captured strategic and tactical insights that are now informing OSF’s future efforts and equipping external partners with tools to more effectively support workers worldwide.
-
Women Donors Network
We designed a bold, new strategy with the Women Donors Network and Women Donors Network Action to channel power and resources towards gender, racial, economic, and climate justice. Grounded in insights from nearly 200 stakeholders across the network’s members and partners, the new strategy outlines how WDN’s members will connect, grow, fund, and mobilize the full range of its resources in solidarity with grassroots movements
-
National Domestic Workers Alliance Labs
We worked with the National Domestic Workers Alliance to chart a path for reshaping private care investments in ways that improve job quality and access for domestic workers. Through a landscape of 500+ care investors and in-depth strategy design, we identified high-impact actions NDWA can lead to shift care capital to enhance equity and dignity in the workforce.
-
Equimundo & Futures Without Violence
We co-convened a national roundtable with Equimundo and Futures Without Violence, bringing together 50 leading voices from policy, philanthropy and community organizing, to shape a shared vision for advancing healthy masculinities in the United States.
-
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Working with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, we identified global health trends that could help U.S. changemakers advance more equitable and resilient health systems. Drawing on expert insights, collaborative workshops, and research across low- and middle-income countries, we surfaced six actionable trends and two cross-cutting themes. These findings are now informing funders, practitioners, and advocates working to transform health outcomes in communities across the United States.
-
New York City Economic Development Corporation
We supported New York City’s Economic Development Corporation and Department of Health to design the vision and strategy for a new Pandemic Response Institute that puts racial and health equity at the center of future emergency response. Through citywide stakeholder engagement and global research, we helped define the Institute’s priorities, operating model, and governance approach. The resulting strategy shaped the city’s investment and long-term commitment to a more inclusive public health system.
-
Vitala Global
We partnered with Vitala Global to explore how to bring Aya Contigo, a digital sexual and reproductive health accompaniment platform that provides culturally responsive information and support to care seekers, into the US market. We analyzed different business models and developed recommendations for how they could partner with providers and grassroots organizations to adapt and introduce their platform to meet the needs of Latinx folks in the US.
-
Blue Meridian Partners
We worked with Blue Meridian Partners’ Place Matters team to design an innovative new strategy to build and shift power in low-income BIPOC communities across the U.S. The resulting framework and strategy guided investments in people, economic, cultural, and political power, and served as a shared tool for place-based partners.
-
Common Future
We partnered with Common Future to research forward-thinking policy ideas – from green development zones to support for minority-owned businesses – that have the potential of building wealth and economic power in communities of color.
-
One Neighborhood Builders
We developed a five-year strategic plan with ONE Neighborhood Builders to expand its role as a community quarterback and health equity zone backbone organization advancing health, housing, and economic justice in Rhode Island. The plan sets a clear course for deepening impact, from building affordable housing to launching neighborhood hubs that drive collective action.
