So far, energy transition has been considered a decarbonization strategy. The conflicts that have roiled various parts of the world in recent years have shown that it’s time to view transition in terms of energy security.

Let’s look at India’s energy consumption. Electricity constitutes only 19%. The rest is consumed by sectors such as industry and transport. If these sectors were to electrify, India’s dependence on imported fuel, would substantially reduce. And, as a result, the impact of global disruptions would be mitigated.
