Dalberg Advisors appoints Marcus Haymon as the new Regional Director for the Americas

New York, January 31, 2024 – Dalberg Advisors, a leading global impact advisory firm, is proud to announce the appointment of Marcus Haymon as the new Regional Director for the Americas, effective January 1, 2024.

With a nearly 20-year career focused on developing strategies and initiatives that foster economic mobility and empower historically marginalized communities in the United States and globally, Marcus advances Dalberg’s mission to help solve the most pressing challenges of our time through systemic change. As Partner, he played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding Dalberg’s growing Justice, Equity, and Economic Mobility (JEM) practice.

Marcus’s diverse advisory engagements span work with non-profits, movement builders, foundations, corporations, and city government agencies. His unique blend of strategy, program, and operational expertise allows him to support clients in a range of modalities — from 12-week strategy engagements to multi-year implementation support. His objective as Regional Director is to ensure that Dalberg Americas increasingly challenges its clients to address structural and systemic barriers to equity through their work.

“Dalberg, with over two decades of exclusive focus on social impact, is steeped in the interconnectedness of structural and cross-sector challenges. We are excited to witness how Marcus Haymon, embodying both authentic leadership and a commitment to transformative impact, will support our clients in envisioning changethat advances equitable outcomes across the region,” says Gaurav Gupta, Global Managing Partner of Dalberg Advisors.

As Regional Director, Marcus will lead a nearly 30-member management team across five offices and one strategic presence to focus on sustainable and impact-oriented growth, both deepening Dalberg’s work in Latin America and the US and continuing to expand its global portfolio. He also seeks to further diversify talent pathways, particularly for women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ social impact leaders.

“Nearly 50% of our regional portfolio sits in the Americas. That wasn’t the case just a few years ago. In addition to the analytical skills and content expertise we bring to our clients, we are able to bring lived experience to the issues we work on — whether the project is based in Bogota, Mexico City, or Washington, DC. By deepening our regional expertise, we can help our clients in a way that they are increasingly interested in — recognizing the importance of local context across a range of issues, exploring what lessons can be shared across borders to develop creative solutions, and driving long-term change,” Marcus Haymon, Regional Director for the Americas remarks.

Marcus aims to encourage the talented and diverse Americas team to embody authenticity and excellence in their work. He endeavors to continue working with impactful entities and building a portfolio that is responsive to the critical issues in 2024 and beyond.

“It’s important that we recognize that the work we do at Dalberg doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It exists in a shifting political, economic, and cultural landscape. As the world around us changes, so will the scope and complexity of the problems our clients are seeking to solve. Issues stemming from climate change, rising inequality, and democratic backsliding will become more prominent. I hope that we can draw upon our networks and expertise, convene actors, and play a small role in shaping regional and global agendas that drive the transformative change the world needs,” says Marcus Haymon, Regional Director for the Americas.
