Conceived as an ambitious project to provide universal identity to more than one billion Indians, India’s Aadhaar system is unparalleled in its reach and aspiration. We launched a study distilling insights drawn from two national household surveys, conducted between May and September 2019, and subsequent human-centered design research.

We helped a leading foundation invest in ICT4Ag solutions to support smallholders and catalyze agricultural transformation. We created an analytical framework to assess the landscape, analyzed trends and opportunities in the sector, and built a pipeline of investment opportunities.

Increasing employment opportunities for women in Southeast Asia through ICT
We analyzed interventions that leverage ICT for female participation in the workforce. We recommended investments to a foundation which could help over 20 million women in Southeast Asia begin and remain productive in their work.

Empowering women to use the mobile internet
We produced a groundbreaking report – based on primary user research in Kenya, India, and Indonesia – that analyzes the challenges women face when accessing mobile internet with low mobile literacy and digital skills, and presented recommendations for key stakeholders to address them.

Last mile internet delivery
In partnership with public and private sector stakeholders, we conceptualized and piloted new business models for last mile Internet delivery combining satellite and WIFI capabilities, enabling extension of financial services and access to relevant content for socioeconomic development.

Enhancing public television in colombia
We developed a strategic plan for public television in Colombia for the Ministry of ICT. Our team conducted in-depth desk research, including quantitative and qualitative analysis of the public television operators in Colombia, and interviews with their staff and related external organizations.

Decoding diversity: The financial and economic returns of diversity in tech
We worked with Intel to complete a rigorous analysis of gender and ethnic diversity in the U.S. tech workforce. We quantified that improving diversity in the technology sector could create $470 – $570Bn in new value for the tech industry, and could add 1.2 – 1.6% to US GDP.

The global opportunity in Online Outsourcing
We studied the potential of online outsourcing to be an innovative channel for socioeconomic development by raising youth employment, service exports and participation in the digital economy. We assessed country readiness, the unique role of governments and the real experiences of online workers through individual profiles.

Due diligence and valuation of a Telecom player
We conducted a rapid commercial due diligence and valuation of a telecom player with a portfolio of 4G LTE spectrum across 14 countries. We used multiple technical valuation approaches, including proprietary modelling tailored to the Sub-Saharan African context.

Mobile money innovation strategy for a pan-africa telecommunications company
We developed strategy recommendations and a high-level roadmap for a pan-African telecommunications company to move into mobile money services. Our assessments involved country selection, a quantified business case, revenue models, road map of next steps and a go-to-market strategy.

Developing an e-learning platform
We worked with Mercy Corps to support an end-to-end e-learning platform start-up to grow and create impact across Africa. We determined the market opportunity for the platform, and prioritized four growth drivers: content focus, pricing models and bundled offerings, advertising, and licensing.

Small merchants offer big financial inclusion opportunities
We authored a report with the Global Development Incubator – and commissioned by VISA – on how financial service providers can engage micro and small merchants to unlock the social and economic benefits of digital payments.
After a year before the end of the administration, we began the process of planning the new non-profit. Without its support, we would have gotten off to a much rockier start.
