Dalberg Media produced and published online learning material for high school students on the biggest Danish online learning platform owned by Gyldendal, a leading Danish publisher. The material, with the Danish title SammenOmVerden, explains global development issues in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Building on the notion that the younger generations hold the potential to ensure sustainable development, SammenOmVerden aims to strengthen high school students’ digital, innovation-related, and global competencies, as well as inspire them to take action in realizing the SDGs. It provides a toolbox for co-creating innovative solutions to development challenges as well as negotiation games, where each student takes on the role of a development stakeholder to investigate a development paradox. These activities are geared toward raising students’ global and sustainable consciousness, with the ultimate goal of enabling them to become thought leaders and pioneers of social impact.
The education material is freely accessible on Gyldendal’s online learning platform. Gyldendal’s educational platforms are used by up to one-third of all Danish pupils and outreach is thus expected to be significant. The material has been distributed via a range of partners and networks including The World’s Best News/ Verdenstimen.dk, the Danish Development Agency’s U-web.dk and via partners such as the Danish High School Network, Global High Schools, and the Association for Teachers in Social Science.
