Dalberg Media executes Big Bet Match-Up Meetings across the world that aspire to identify, improve and implement innovative ideas that support the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals through the establishment of cross-cutting partnerships. This initiative generates sustainable Big Bets and transformational ideas by creating solution-oriented forums that address local challenges and identify scalable solutions.  Finally, through the Big Bet Match-Up Meetings, the Big Bet Initiative creates awareness around the SDG agenda by actively involving local, national and global stakeholders and media.

The Big Bet Initiative is set in motion to identify, improve, scale and accelerate great ideas and innovative solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative builds on the book 17 Big Bets for a Better World, which serves as a catalytic catalogue of ideas and solutions to the SDGs from some of the world’s most inspiring thought leaders.

Dalberg Media executed one event in the Big Bet Match-Up series in Jaipur, India to explore the potential of distributed business models as an overarching response to some of the most pressing SDG challenges India is facing. The meeting focused on how distributed business models within water and sanitation, energy, health and creative manufacturing can be applied within production and service delivery. Another Big Bet Match-Up Meeting was held in San Francisco focusing on empowering women in STEM within education, recruitment and retention. The meeting explored root barriers to female employment in the STEM workforce, particularly in engineering and computer science, and looked for concrete vehicles to advance women in the sector.
