Marcos Paya is a Partner and Director of the Mexico City office, where he leads teams and clients in solving some of the world’s most pressing development challenges. Marcos co-leads Dalberg’s global Finance & Investment practice, where he has worked extensively on addressing the financing gap for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through sustainable capital allocation. He works closely with institutional asset owners and allocators, development finance institutions, investment managers, and investee companies. Marcos is also a leader in Dalberg’s Latin America practice.
Examples of his recent work include developing an SDG-themed blended finance facility for a leading innovative development finance institution, structuring a large-scale investment mechanism for allocating impact capital to frontier and emerging market infrastructure, and designing a methodology and platform to make the SDGs more intentionally ‘investable’ for large-scale asset allocators.
Prior to Dalberg, Marcos advised private equity investors on the Latin America region at Eurasia Group, a political risk firm, led projects for the Inter-American Development Bank, and was a Senior Consultant for the Monitor Group, where he helped governments and large multinational companies compete and grow in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Marcos holds a graduate degree from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Cambridge. He speaks French, Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
