Sunru is a Partner at Dalberg in Nairobi. He is focused on inclusive business growth and investing for development in sub-Saharan Africa, and he has worked in agriculture, manufacturing, financial services, and healthcare.
Prior to Dalberg, Sunru was the COO of Mobius Motors, an automotive start-up working to design and manufacture affordable cars for the East African market. In addition to overseeing Mobius’ operations, he also spearheaded the company’s strategic pivots to a micro-factory approach to manufacturing and an OEM partnership to expand the model portfolio. Previously, Sunru helped in the design and incubation of the Ghana Commodity Exchange, where he led efforts to raise capital, foster ecosystem partnerships, and evaluate the GCX’s potential impact across agricultural value chains. He was also an Acumen Fund Global Fellow and worked on business models to deliver affordable drip irrigation to smallholders and to apply mobile technology to improve supply chains.
Prior to moving to East Africa, Sunru worked at Bain & Company in Boston where he focused on strategy and private equity and advised clients in a broad range of industries, including consumer products, industrial goods, healthcare, technology, and telecommunications. He has authored numerous cases and developed primer texts on strategy, game theory, and operations for Harvard Business Publishing. Sunru holds a BA in History and an MA in International Affairs from Washington University in St. Louis, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.
